About ten years
ago my sister and her husband
owned a religious supply house.
They began getting inquiries
about rosary beads made from
rose petals. They were told
about an 80 year old nun in
Chicago who had been making this
type of flower rosary for many years. When
contact was made they were told
that because of her age she was
actively searching for someone
to share her technique with so
that the tradition could be
carried on. Now my sister’s
business consists of making and
supplying hand made rosaries and
jewelry to a large customer
base.
In 2001,
interested in starting a
business of my own, they shared
with me the directions of how to
make the beads and then taught
me how to assemble the pieces. I
add color pigments to my mixture
to make a more colorful and
beautiful bead.
